Questions
that
all associations should ask
I used
to be an administrator and coach in table tennis, from club- to international
level, for many years.
So of course I have some ideas that I believe can be useful. Plus
questions that should be asked.
Every
table tennis association, from international to club level, should
make developments plans with goals and a timeline for when the goals
shall be reached.
Who is responsible for the plans to be implemented
and who shall implement them should be part of the plan.
The development plan should be presented at
the annual general meeting (AGM) and it should be decided that the
new committee should look into the plan with goals and timeline at
the first meeting after election.
For many sports all the above is obvious but
I feel that table tennis could improve when it comes to planning and
implementing.
Let us look at some of the questions/goals
for associations - for a coming year/season, from international level
to clubs:
- How many new associations/clubs?
- How many (new) educated board members on different levels?
- How many (new) members to the national association?
- How many new coaches on different levels?
- How many active coaches (on different levels)?
- How many new players in different age groups?
- How many medals in the national championships on different age-groups/levels?
- How many representatives to national teams?
- How many players to international, national and/or district training
camps?
- How to you get the money for the above?
- How to improve the profile of/attitude towards table tennis (as
a sport).
- How to get results and information in the media on a daily/weekly
basis.
- What are the timelines for the above?
- When shall these goals be decided on?
Any
comments to the above? Or questions? Anything I have forgotten?
