Here is the updated information:
Our Academy Closed Championships:
- U15 and younger singles will held at Belgian Gardens school Tuesday 25 November from 3.15 to 4.45 pm.
- the championships will be followed by a trophy ceremony and pizza for all (we must be finished by 5.15 pm).
Annual General meeting:
We welcome all the parents to our annual general meeting; it will be held after the trophy ceremony on Tuesday 25 November. Please inform Terry or Kaye Howell (Lance’s mother) if you are interested in sitting in the committee!
School holiday training:
We will start the New Year with a coaching clinic at Terry’s house 13, 14 and 15 January, early morning before it is getting too hot; from 8.30 to 10.30 am. Cost $10 per day. Please tell us if you are interested!
Next year – what shall we do?
We have to plan our table tennis course at Belgian Gardens School, and our other activities, for next year as soon as possible. So we would appreciate some information before our annual general meeting on Tuesday:
- Can you please tell us if your child will be playing on Tuesdays next year.
- Can you please tell us if your child will is interested in more coaching.
- Can you please tell us if your child is interested in playing Fixtures. If yes, what day will be best?
- Can you please tell us if your child is interested in more interclub activities in Townsville. If yes, what day will be best?
It would also be great if you could tell us if your child (children) is playing on Tuesday and will be able to stay later than normal - by replying this e-mail or informing Terry or Kaye as soon as possible!

Thursday Fixtures and Practise is now on!
We will start our Fixtures again, weekly games; in Terry's house 1 Howitt Street (at the corner Howitt and Warburton Street; the white Queenslander behind the bamboo).
It will be on every Thursday at 3.30 to 5.00 pm, usually with a bit of practising/coaching before we start the Fixture-matches.
We have two tables under Terry's house and use this as a temporary venue until we have enough interested players so that we can afford to rent another day at the school (or find another hall).
The cost is $4.00 per session - and you do not need to come every time.
If parents can stay that would also be helpful and you are responsible to bring and pick-up (as goes for the practising at the school on Tuesdays). If somebody have trouble taking the kids from the school to Terry's house on Thursdays, have a chat with Terry or Kaye Howell (Lance's mother) and might be we can help out.
Ring Terry 4773486 or mobile 0431099274 for more information.
We are also hoping to have some interclub activities in on Saturdays but this is not yet clear.

From ABC News:
Brain Tricks That Can Make You Smarter: Become a Ping Pong Champ
Take a cue from Forrest Gump and work on your table tennis game. Ping pong improves your hand-eye coordination and gives you a dose of brain-boosting social interaction, says Daniel Amen, M.D., a brain-imaging researcher and founder of Amen Clinics.
“When it comes to mental exercise, the really important thing is doing things that your brain doesn't know how to do,” says Dr. Amen. “If I just keep doing something that I already know how to do, it’s not that helpful. But learning different things is what really exercises your brain.”
